Rosie Lewis is Head of Policy at Imkaan after a joyful decade working at the Angelou Centre in the North East of England where she was Deputy Director and managed the organisation’s Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) services, which included refuge provision for women without recourse to public funds. Rosie is a qualified and trained IDVA and ISVA who is educated to post-graduate level (Masters in Research) and is currently working towards her PhD at Durham University.
Rosie’s campaign, policy and advocacy focus has been on work with migrant women and children without recourse to public funds, women and children in detention, state violence, structural discrimination (inclusive of Safeguarding protocols) and human rights breaches in relation to survivors of violence. Rosie also has an arts and heritage consultancy background having organised and fundraised for independent national arts/heritage festivals, regional exhibitions and events since 1995. Rosie has been involved in social justice activism, DIY organizing (arts and music) and feminist activism for over 25 years.
